Sounds of struggling and strange growling woke me in the middle of the night. Someone or something, in a fit of destructive rage, had begun to destroy the small office at the end of the hall. Trembling, when I finally pushed open the door to this usually peaceful room, I found it destroyed but empty. The sun illuminated the room as if it were broad daylight, and only the desk and its chair had escaped being reduced to rubble...
